ConvUrgentCare Strategy Symposium 2017

The 2017 ConvUrgentCare Strategy Symposium is an invitation-only event in its 9th year that brings together senior executives from health systems, private urgent care and medical groups with an interest in planning for the next 5 to 10 years.  There is a tremendous amount of attention on primary care today, and this sector has never seen more competitive pressure.  Retail clinics are beginning to do chronic disease management; urgent care clinics are starting to act as medical homes; employers are opening worksite clinics with full primary care and specialty care services; telemedicine is starting to show signs of viability; and network development partnerships abound.

Our venue is the beautifully renovated Hotel Valley Ho ( in Old Town Scottsdale, Arizona, one block from the art gallery district on Main Street.  The Symposium begins at 1pm on Monday, January 23, enabling most attendees to fly in that morning. The meeting ends on Wednesday, January 25, at noon.  In addition to health system attendees, many of whom are current clients of Merchant Medicine, we invite executives from large independent urgent care operators, payers, investors and researchers to attend to further build a dynamic experience and sense of community.

This year we are focusing on the evolution of consumer experiential design and the emergence of on-demand healthcare as a network foundation.  Given the strong renewed interest in retail clinics for health systems, we are also running a retail clinic panel with executives representing MinuteClinic (CVS), Walgreens, The Little Clinic (Kroger), and RediClinic (Rite Aid) talking about their affiliation and joint venture programs with health systems.

Our phenomenal speaker line-up follows below and are are looking forward to an outstanding 2017 thought-provoking event.  The 2017 ConvUrgentCare Strategy Symposium will take place in Scottsdale, AZ, January 23-25, 2017 at the Hotel Valley Ho (  Please email us or call us at (651) 483-0450 to request an invitation.

Our Speakers and Agenda

We select speakers who create a combined agenda that puts ConvUrgentCare into perspective, enabling each attendee to apply insights to their unique challenges and market dynamics.  The urgent care, retail clinic and employer services markets have always been competitive, but this year feels different.  The competitive ante has been raised.  Disruption feels as though it is coming from multiple directions.  At Merchant Medicine, we sense that there is a tipping point approaching.  It is a point at which the leaders of health systems and large medical groups will have to move aggressively in the short term to compete in this space or yield to new entrants.
