Bernie is a principal with Kuhn Development, LLC. He assists clients with program management, financial and operational modeling, employer programs, marketing, and growth strategies. He was previously senior vice president for corporate development at Doctors Care/UCI Medical Affiliates in South Carolina (51 UC centers, 21 PTs); he held a dual role as vice president at parent insurer BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina (BCBSSC). Prior to BCBSSC, Bernie was a senior manager in KPMG’s management consulting group with experience across health care, insurance, and retail clients. Bernie received a BA in accounting at Michigan State University and an MBA at the University of Florida. He is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and a speaker and committee member for the Urgent Care Association of America.
Jerry Reeves, MD
Jerry is currently vice president of medical affairs at Health Insight, a health improvement coalition and Medicare quality improvement organization, in Las Vegas, NV. Jerry chairs the Nevada Partnership for Value Driven Health Care, and the Nevada Improving Diabetes and Obesity Council (iDo). He also serves as chief health officer for Consumers' Choice Health Plan in South Carolina and Community Health Alliance in Tennessee, both health insurance co-ops; and consulting medical director for HealthCare 21 Business Coalition. He is also a principal and medical director of wellPORTAL LLC, implementing medical network benefit plans. Jerry previously served as chief medical officer of Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees International Union (HEREIU) Welfare Funds; CEO and chairman of WorldDoc Inc.; chief medical officer of Humana Inc. and Sierra Health Services Inc.; and chief of clinical medicine at USAF headquarters in Europe. He served two terms on the Board of Health of the State of Nevada and as associate dean, managed care, for the University of Nevada School of Medicine. He is board certified in pediatrics, pediatric hematology-oncology, and in medical management. He has authored more than 50 publications, been an editor for three professional journals, and served on the faculty of three medical schools. Jerry received his MD from Baylor College of Medicine.
John is the founder and president of Franchise Times Corp., a national publisher of business trade journals in franchising and finance. Since 1998 John has covered the growth and maturation of both the franchise industry and the restaurant industry. The company publishes Franchise Times Magazine, a national franchise industry trade journal; the Restaurant Finance Monitor, a monthly financial newsletter which covers the capital markets in the restaurant industry; and Foodservice News, a monthly newspaper for independent foodservice and restaurant operators in the Upper Midwest. He also produces a number of industry executive conferences including The Restaurant Finance & Development Conference and the Franchise Finance Conference. Previously he served as chief financial officer of a public restaurant chain and a CPA at a national accounting firm. John graduated from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN in 1977.
Mark is a managing partner at Estill Advisory Group, a boutique advisory firm that provides investment banking and strategic advisory services to middle market and emerging growth companies. Prior to cofounding Estill Advisory Group, Mark served as a healthcare industry operating manager, an equity research analyst and an investment banker. Mark’s experience in the healthcare industry includes conducting biomedical research for the Medical University of South Carolina's Department of Medicine where he co-authored multiple publications that were published in the Journal of Endocrinology and working for Johnson & Johnson in new business development. On Wall Street, Mark conducted sell-side research at Buckingham Research Group and Key Bank, was a buy-side analyst at Natexis Banque Populaires, an investment banker at Susquehanna International Group and a co-founder and investment banker at Plutus Capital Partners. Mark received a B.S. in Biology from The Citadel and an IMBA (International MBA) from the University of South Carolina. As part of the IMBA degree, Mark studied at the Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey in Guadalajara, Mexico and also received a post-IMBA grant from the Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) to study emerging economies and attended the Indian Institute of Management in Bangalore, India.
Spike is a managing director of Ansley Capital Group, a strategic and financial advisory firm providing investment banking and consulting services to small- and middle-market health information technology and services companies. Prior to joining Ansley, Spike owned a consulting company that worked with small- to mid-size healthcare companies providing strategic, operational and business development services. He also served on the boards of the portfolio companies of several venture capital groups.
Pierre is the founder and CEO of Marque Medical, an urgent care company founded in 2010 in Southern California that owns and operates urgent care centers. Pierre has extensive experience managing complex transactions, and is also the founder of Marque Investments, LLC, a private equity firm focused on joint venture partnerships for value-add real estate opportunities, and a direct acquirer of stable core properties. Prior to starting his firm, Pierre worked at several private equity firms, including Studley Structured Finance Group and Buchanan Street Partners, where he secured and originated debt and equity financing for the firm’s principal and advisory businesses in the aggregate of $1B in transactions. He holds an MBA from the University of Southern California, and lives with his wife and children in Newport Coast, California.
Ron Bonnstetter, PhD
Ron is senior vice president of research and development at Target Training International (TTI) in Scottsdale, AZ. Intrigued by the science of the brain, inspired to teach and intent on developing a better understanding of how the human brain informs human behavior, Ron has decades of award-winning teaching and research at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, as well as an arsenal of recognition and research, including the first recipient of the National Senior Outstanding Science Educator of the Year Award. He has a bachelor’s degree from Mankato State University, master’s and doctorate degrees from the University of Iowa.
